A must visit for handicraft enthusiast; the Handicraft Centre boasts diverse wares that Terengganu is famous for and offers an insight into various craft making. From hand woven baskets to pandanus (mengkuang or screw pine leaves) mat weaving, from wood carvings to songket weaving, brassware as well as the exquisite hand drawn and block imprints, everything is all here. Each creation, unique with the unmistakable feel of Terengganu, are done meticulously with skills passed from one generation to the next thus retaining its originality. Visitors can also get a chance to witness first hand skills of local artisans in songket weaving, batik painting or basket weaving. The Handicraft centre is situated in Kuala Ibai, 6 km from the town centre.
How To Get Here
It is located 10 km south of Kuala Terengganu. Make a right turn at the traffic light after the Ibai Bridge towards Permint Jaya. The centre is located on the right after the Noor Arfa Craft Complex.
