Beach

The Longest Coastline in Malaysia

The magnificent 244km coastline of Terengganu offers much in the form of secluded palm-fringed coves and popular picnic spots for a family outing by the beach. Easily accessible via the picturesque coastal highway, a walk on the beach is recommended. Set against the idyllic islands as picture perfect backgrounds with traditional fishing villages and their coastal fishing boats dotted on the stretches of golden sands. An early morning walk is recommendable, pampered by cool breeze of the sea to witness activities of local fishermen or perhaps to witness the dazzling colours of sunrise.

While all the beaches on the islands are suitable for swimming activities, most beaches on the mainland are rather dangerous for swimming due to unpredictable undercurrent. There are of course signage to advise visitors of the dangers. Extreme water sport activities are even held in the breaking waves of the monsoon season such as surfing while jet ski is held in the open waters off the coast. There is even an annual swimming race from Pulau Kapas to Pantai Kelulut held in the calm seas of April

Crystal Mosque

The Crystal Mosque or Masjid Kristal is a mosque in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. A grand structure made of steel, glass and crystal. The mosque is located at Islamic Heritage Park on the island of Wan Man. The mosque was constructed between 2006 and 2008. It was officially opened on 8 February 2008 by 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu. It has the capacity to accommodate over 1,500 worshipers at a time. This is one of the most beautiful mosques in the world. Masjid Kristal is a good tourism and attractive site. This handsome structure is symbol of Malaysian Heritage.

TOWN TAXI in Kuala Terengganu

Kuala Terengganu Taxi Terminal is just opposite the Town Bus Terminal. The town taxi  provides  interstate  and  inter district  journey.  If you wanted  to share to  cost, you will  have  to  wait  for  other passengers  but if you want to charter  the whole  cab,  the  cab  driver  will immediately  depart to  your destination  of choice.

In other district, its Taxi Terminal are connected with the District Bus Terminal


Most  taxi  that  offers  trips  within  Kuala Terengganu are available at the taxi terminal while some waits at the hotel lobby. Get the assistance  of  the  hotel reception  should  you  urgently  needs  a cab  for  your immediate transfers.

Ketupat Sotong

This is a unique traditional recipe of Terengganu and is a popular tea-time dish features squids stuffed with glutinous rice bathed in a sea of cooked thick coconut milk. Although in Kelantan, the Ketupat Sotong has its thick coconut milk sweetened with brown palm sugar, Terengganu retains its whitish original taste. Now being served in hotels and resorts while most restaurants provides the dish.

Malaysia Handicraft Centre

A must visit for handicraft enthusiast; the Handicraft Centre boasts diverse wares that Terengganu is famous for and offers an insight into various craft making. From hand woven baskets to pandanus (mengkuang or screw pine leaves) mat weaving, from wood carvings to songket weaving, brassware as well as the exquisite hand drawn and block imprints, everything is all here. Each creation, unique with the unmistakable feel of Terengganu, are done meticulously with skills passed from one generation to the next thus retaining its originality. Visitors can also get a chance to witness first hand skills of local artisans in songket weaving, batik painting or basket weaving. The Handicraft centre is situated in Kuala Ibai, 6 km from the town centre.

How To Get Here

It is located 10 km south of Kuala Terengganu. Make a right turn at the traffic light after the Ibai Bridge towards Permint Jaya. The centre is located on the right after the Noor Arfa Craft Complex.

Lompat Tikam

This is a typical Malay sweet dessert and is soft and sticky. The name literally means to jump and stab and does not correlate to this sweet and cold dessert which consists of two main parts, the green part underneath and the white part on top of it. The solution of rice flour is stirred till it is cooked. The mixture of rice flour and water is cooked until thickened then poured onto first layer to become a two layer of delicious dessert.
A generous helping of coconut palm syrup compliments the sweetness and the unique taste of the dessert and suitable as an evening snack. The name linguistically implies the rise and ready to start the day after eating this sweet dessert. This tasty food is not only attracted the locals but as well as the outsiders.
